Dynamic Computing is looking for a Solutions Specialist in Seattle!

Dynamic Computing is a leading Managed IT Service Provider to small companies located in the Puget Sound region and beyond.  We’re a small but growing company that is focused on being the best Managed IT Service Provider in the Seattle area.

Our team of 14 needs the right person to help take us to the next level.  We’re looking forward to adding a great new member to our team and thanks in advance for considering coming to work for us.

Our Solutions Team focus is to ensure we’re selecting and implementing the right products and solutions for our clients, and to ensure our service and project teams are well informed and enabled to carry out upgrades, changes, and improvements that we sell.

The team’s responsibilities encompass account management, product selection, planning of moves/upgrades/changes and evaluating and implementing new IT solutions.  The team is also involved in proactive reviews of the IT systems of both new and existing clients, and helping them budget for upgrades, replacements, and improvements in technology.

The Solutions Specialist’s role a bit of an amalgamation of sales engineering, account management, and project planning and has aspects of all three in its duties.  You’ll be evaluating IT systems and solutions, ensuring they’re right for the client, working to get the deal done, and then ensuring that it’s teed up and handed off to the right team to deliver the work.

The Solutions Specialist will also be supporting the Business Development team on evaluations of the IT environments of potential clients, ensuring that we’re applying similar solutions to new business opportunities.

What kind of person are we looking for?

  • Figure-Outer – We need you to be the guy or gal who can figure out how anything’s and everything’s supposed to work.  That means reading product literature, doing demos, and being the liaison between client and vendor to figure out if the solution we’re evaluating will meet the client’s needs.  That also means figuring out how to bypass the inevitable roadblocks that come up before/during/after the project.
  • Button Pusher – We need you to make stuff happen, on time and on budget.  Since you’ll be helping plan out things like client moves, changes, expansions, and projects (many of which involve coordination with 3rd party partners and vendors) we need you to keep pushing things forward and ensure that we take the ball across the finish line (before time runs out).
  • Convincer – Sometimes people need a bit of convincing.  That’ll be your job.  Whether it’s related to a big upgrade, a project they’re already involved in, or even when the advice of our techs isn’t getting the client on board, we need you to come in, sell the dream, and explain why it’ll help achieve our collective goals.  And then get them to sign on the dotted line.
  • Problem Analyzer – You need to be the gal or guy who digs deep into the problem and works with our team to create a solution and implement it.  This may be a customer service issue, a technical issue, or something totally unrelated.  We need you to be the person our clients go to when they need something done.
  • The IT Guru – You’ve got to have serious tech chops to do this job.  That likely means that you were a Level 2 or higher IT technician at some point.  We need you to know about computer systems, software, networks, the cloud, and mobile products.  And how they are used and can benefit small companies and organizations.
  • Perfecter + Repeater –  We need you to be the king or queen of process.  Once we’ve figured out how to do something well, we need you to document it, procedure-ize it, and make sure that we do it over and over again.
  • Flexible, yet Focused – You’ll be charting a course through undiscovered waters in this position (with a lot of help).  That means things will change quickly, and we’ll need you to keep the ship running while we head out to explore a new product, client or opportunity.
  • Solid Sales Chops – There is absolutely no cold calling required for this position (thank goodness!).  However, you will need to be able to create, follow-up on, and close sales opportunities inside of our existing client base.
  • The Perennial Team Player – We need you to be ready and willing to help with anything at the drop of a hat.  The right candidate for this job will be able to roll with the punches with a smile on their face!

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • 4 Year (Bachelor’s) Degree strongly preferred, preferably in Business Administration or Information Systems Management.  Equivalent experience acceptable.
  • Strong skills in written and verbal communication, including creation of proposals and presentations are a must.
  • 5 Years minimum experience in roles that involve information technology, either in a technical or sales capacity, preferably including experience with another IT solution provider.
  • Experience working with computer hardware, software, networking equipment, and IT solutions/services.
  • Experience in project planning, creation of proposals, quotes, etc. is strongly preferred.

So what will I be doing every day?

Below is a list of the day-to-day responsibilities – well, it’s is a pretty good start, at least.  Given that we’re a small company and this is a relatively new position, we can pretty much guarantee you that you’ll be asked to do things that seemingly have nothing to do with the items below, and that’s where it gets fun, right?

Job Description / Responsibilities:  The Solutions Specialist position is designed to be a full-time, salaried, exempt position, completed in approximately 40-45 hours per week.  The schedule will be a business hours schedule with some flexibility.  The position will be responsible for the following:

  • Moves, Upgrades & Changes.  You’ll help our clients and teammates plan out things like office moves, new locations, system changes, major upgrades, and more.  This will include site visits to evaluate needs, creation of quotes based on the required products, working with our project team to estimate labor costs, and working with the client to get the proposal/quote approved.
  • IT Reviews.  You’ll be working with our Solutions Coordinator and CEO to do periodic IT reviews for our existing clients.  These include site visits, validating documentation, report analysis, quote & budget creation, and a presentation of the important parts to our clients.  This also involves working with our teams internally to ensure that all of our various ducks are in a row prior to the presentation.
  • New Solutions Evaluation, & Testing.  A big part of this job is ensuring we’re using the right products and solutions for our clients.  You’ll work hand-in-hand with our engineering team to test out new products and solutions and make sure they’re the right choice for our clients.  This could range from a new industry-specific software package to a new type of Wireless AP, to a new model of PC or peripheral.
  • Internal Handoffs.  Successful delivery of new IT solutions requires great communication.  For your role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that our service and project teams get all of the information they need to successfully deliver what we sold, all wrapped up in a neat, nice, and well-organized package.  That means templates, spreadsheets, and/or anything else they need to get the idea and make it happen – exactly as you promised.
  • Estimates, Proposals & Quotes.  You’ll be working with our service and project teams to figure out how long it’ll take to install, setup and configure new products, changes, and/or solutions.  You’ll also be the creator of amazing proposals and quotes that explain the why, how, and how much.  Oh, and you’ll be the convincer of clients that they need to proceed with approving your amazing proposals.
  • Account Management.  While you’ll just be one piece of this puzzle, our team’s role is to make sure that our company is meeting the needs of our clients, and our clients are on board and using our company’s solutions.  You’ll be an integral part of that.

This will be a salaried + bonus/commission, full-time position that is overtime exempt.  The starting salary will be DOE, and you’ll be eligible for a bonus/commission plan based on achieving goals/metrics after your first 6 months.  We don’t anticipate much more than 40 hours per week, but we may occasionally ask you to put in some extra time if something important comes up or we’ve got a unique need.  Benefits start right away – the first of the month after you’re officially on board.

  • Medical – We pay 100% of your medical insurance!  (We’re not kidding).  We’ll also make a contribution to your HSA account after you’ve been here for 6 months, and we’d encourage you to do the same (not to mention that you get a tax break for doing so).  You’ll also have the ability to add your spouse/partner, and/or children at your expense if you’d like.
  • Disability – We also pay 100% of the cost of a short and long term disability insurance policy for you – it ensures that you continue to receive income if you get hurt and are unable to work.
  • Retirement – We provide a Simple IRA retirement plan, matched dollar per dollar for up to the first 3% of your salary, and you’ll become eligible after 2 full months of employment.
  • Paid holidays – You’ll get paid for 9 holidays without even showing up to work!  You’ll get to pick either MLK or President’s Day, plus Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day & following Friday, two days at Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
  • Transit Pass – You’ll get an ORCA card that entitles you to free transit on the bus, train, light rail and more that you can use to get to work (and for your personal use).
  • Additional PTO – You get 16 additional paid personal days off per year – you can use them if you’re sick or for a vacation.
